Getting Started
From yours truly, Getting started in The Cylex Pack. This is focused on getting to space!
So.. Many... Things.....
Yes, The pack is massive and you can become lost and be confused where you should start, but this all depends on your goals! Do you want to start a Massive Automated Farm? or maybe you want to have a huge Bee Keeping Farm, The decision if yours! Let's go through a few options...
Creating your world.
Now, If you're in a server.. This obviously does not apply to you ( like at all ) so go ahead and skip this part.
When creating a single player world, Set world generation to "BIOMES-O-PLENTY" for the entire effect. Now, Once you load into your game, You have multiple things already in your inventory so let's go through those. To start, You have a cool thing called "Open Computer Manual", Now this little thing contains everything you need to know to have an awesome computer aware base. If you're used to ComputerCraft then we have that too but this is a cool way of doing things and has a ton of awesome features! The other item you have is the "Forestry Manual" and this is a great asset to you. Everything forestry ( Including automation of farms, Bee Keeping and so forth ) is all included in here, It walks you step by step and tells you what you should do. So lets Simply start by getting some wood because that's something we should get anyway to begin but before we go into that - the crystal ball. Now the crystal ball is apart of "Minecraft Comes Alive" allowing for babies, families, ect... It's a really neat thing but this isn't relevant, Click it and it brings you to a enchantment room where you make choices. This is your decision, Wanna try it? ;) Have fun...
Lets get some wood.
So, As I said.. It's time to get wood. So begin by chopping some trees down and ya know ( the normal minecraft stuff ) but a twist is "baby" trees! Baby trees aren't gonna provide as much wood, So if you don't mind then go ahead but if you do then find a tree that is fully grown. As you can see in this picture, The baby trees are easy to find.
They will grow slowly, and once grown they will provide more wood. So after we get wood, Let's create a crafting table. Once you have that - Feel free to do the basics like creating an axe, pickaxe and so forth. BUT OH NO! ( yes this really happened as I wrote this )
The wind has picked up... There something spinning in the sky.. Could that be.... no... It.. IT'S A TORNADO!!!!
Yes, That's a tornado and I suggest running and fast... So, First you want to get your belongings, ( if you can ) - Try to get everything you can, So mine your crafting table and run for the caves! but in this tragic story, I didn't make it to a cave and the tornado touched down, So I build a makeshift shelter to try to stay safe and thankfully, The tornado went right past me!
Weather.
As I said, Thankfully it went right past me but you can clearly see the effect it can cause, but I did make the mistake of walking out of my shelter too soon. You want to wait until it is either far away or gone completely to leave safety! I left to early and well, This happened.
Now, I did end up staying alive by landing in water when it went up - I did find that safety can be found in water.
Getting ready for space!
Now, My goal is a space base! So this will take a long time. So i'm gonna skip simple things but here is a checklist.
Now... This is what I have so far
I have iron materials and a expensive oven, Ovens are great because they hold a lot and don't require resources. The only con is that they won't cook resources so make sure to grab some furnaces too.
I built my house on the water to AVOID MOBS because if mobs hear you or you're within a certain area of them, They will swarm towards you so being on the water prevents that entirely but I walked out of my house and was shot by a skeleton in the water so be aware! Mobs can also steal things from you - Open normal doors and even open chests. If you die, you turn into a zombie so be careful if you're around people when youd die.
Nasa Workbench
To get a nasa workbench, You need the following:
Power.
So let's start by getting power because if you want to get any of those, You'll need a Compressor and Circuit Fabricator. Once you have power, Connect the power to the Fab, and I highly suggest using an ELECTRIC Circuit Fabricator so you can actually use your power for good ( no pun intended .... or was there? ) To get your Compressor in the first place, you'll need the fabricator. It's a process but once done, You have this.
I suggest using a coal generator as it's the easiest to make and efficient for what you want right now.
Using the workbench
The UI is as such...
Keep in mind this thing is HUGE! You should have a 3x3 width and at least 5 tall to be safe.
Rocket
Now, to get a rocket. This is the recipe:
You'll need to compress Steel, Bronze and Aluminum to get the heavy duty plates. These are pretty extensive and can take some time so let's begin getting setup with oxygen and O2 Gear. We will come back to this.
Oxygen Gear
Oxygen gear is essential to going to space because as we know - Minecraftions do need Oxygen to breathe, Much like humans. So, The following is the recipe for Oxygen Gear. I've listed it in the order you should get it.
This does require power. Put it somewhere where it can get power, It will collect Oxygen for you, To get the O2 out - Place the oxygen collector down then some fluid pipes to some tanks for storage ( for later )
Oxygen Setup
Now that we have our gear, Let's get some o2 in the tanks we made. To do this, We will need a nifty Oxygen Compressor.
So, To go back a bit. The oxygen collectors should be on and collecting Oxygen into tanks like this.
Once they're on, Collecting O2 - let's pull into the compressor. You'll want to go to the fluid pipes, and use a wrench at the top ( or where you want to pull from ) and click it. The end of it will turn a blackish color indicating "Export" mode. Once you've done this, Connect the pipes to the compressor, It should now look like this.
Now, place your oxygen tanks into the compressor - If you want to make larger tanks then feel free but medium is an okay size for this wiki. It should be like this inside.
Great! We're filling up on Oxygen. Let's do some further preparation.
Almost Ready For Space!
Now, you'll want to make an air lock. The recipes are pretty easy!
You need to fill an entire frame so makes sure it's enough for at least one door as such.
Air locks allow you to seal your base with a oxygen sealer, oxygen sealers take oxygen then seal an area ( that is sealed! ) and allows you to walk around without oxygen gear on, Allowing you to charge up a night when you're scared to walk around.
Once you have your oxygen sealer, You're pretty much good! You should now have the following items with exclusions of a few items I prefer to have in this photo. - At the time of writing this, I did not have the Tier 1 Space Suit, please know you DO NEED THIS.
Rocket and Fuel
Now! Let's build that rocket, After you have the rocket built - Build a Rocket Launch pad and boom! Sadly, We're not done yet. You need to make a Refinery ( The Galacticraft One! ) and once you have that, You can begin pumping oil into it like such.
I use tanks to make life easy, but you can do a direct pump if you're close enough to the oil which in this case - I was not. It will take some time to refine, So be patient.
While it refines, Create a FUEL LOADER and place it next to the rocket launch pad like such.
Once you have fuel, begin loading it into the loader and then click "load Fuel" in the loader like such.
Once your fuel is at 100% in your rocket like this, You can prepare for take off.
Checklist
Here is your checklist before launching.
I highly suggest bringing all your machines ( Fabricators, Compressors etc )
Ready For Take Off
You're fully ready for takeoff! Equip your oxygen and load up your items, it's time for launch. Your inventory should look like this ( with exceptions! ) ( Tier 1 Space Suit Needed! )
When you're ready, Prepare for takeoff. Jump in the ship and click space.
Once you hit space, You'll be promted with this. Now we're only in tier 1 so we can only go to the moon, So we double click the overworld and select moon.
Click Launch and you'll begin descending. Make sure to hold space! Space keeps you from crashing.
You've landed.
Now we're on the moon! The time is racing, When you step out of your shit - You'll begin losing O2 So let's do this fast!
Thankfully I landed near a village so I got lucky! These moon villages contain Farms, Trees, and Even premade housing! If you didn't land near a village then no problem, Keep following.
Now, Let's begin as we know we need to be fast! Start by Sealing a base. Do this by bordering all openings! Place your air lock and create some windows like this.
We need power first, os place some generators and attach the power cables.
Next, Begin O2 Generation, You can do this inside but I prefer to have space so I'll use a sealable fluid pipe and a sealable power cable.
Now, place some leaves and cover the sealers with them.
Then, Place your sealer and disable it will it fills with oxygen!
Once your oxygen sealer is full of oxygen and power - Go ahead and enable it.
OH NO!
Now this could mean a few things...
Your area is too big! This means the oxygen sealer cannot seal it because it's too much to seal, To fix this - You can place more Oxygen sealers together and it'll seal. Otherwise, Just slim the base down like I did.
Your area isn't sealed. Make sure the area is sealed! When I made this, I forgot that glass cannot be sealed, You need Vacuum Glass which is not that hard to make.
Now we're fully functional!
Now, Further! We need oxygen compressors to refill our tanks. Let's place some and set them up. Once you do that, you can take your gear off! Remember as long as you're sealed, You're safe.
Now, It's probably a good idea to begin storing oxygen. later down the line we can use Oxygen Modules but for now we can use Fluid Tanks.
Now if you ever have issues with o2, you can now send the o2 back by reversing the top of those pipes.
Now, My preference is have a way of getting stone so I setup a stone gen.
You're Done.
No really, You're setup for a lifetime of living in space. There are tons of planets to explore and you need to go to each one to unlock the next via dungeons. I'll post some links below to help you along your jounry as well as a tiny list to help you and tell you what you can do to improve your way of life.
Better Power! Use solar panels ( Ultimate To be Specific so they work at night. )
Storage! Use Oxygen Storage module and Power storage module to store power.
Farming! Setup automation with your farms to make life easy.
More O2! Setup more farms and larger oxygen collector systems to get more O2 for your base
Expand! Expand your base and make it amazing, Start a factory, Housing for friends! Anything you can dream of :)
